Festival Production Manager

Job Description:

The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating the onsite operations and show-flow during the festival; including managing the screenings, ticket sales, and volunteer staff. The Production Manager is the house manager for the theaters and the main point of contact between the theater, volunteers and festival staff.

Responsibilities Include:

• Setup and strike the theater venues each day.

• Coordinate daily placement of banners at venue.

• Act as floor manager at venues during the festival and be present at the theater during each day’s screening.

• Manage venue setup before the festival opens.

• Host volunteer training and information sessions before the festival.

• Manage volunteer schedules during the festival, including last minute changes and no-shows.

• Act as point of communication between volunteers and staff.

• Work closely with the Theater Managers to make sure screenings run smoothly and on-time.

• Coordinate with Registration and Theater Managers to reserve and distribute badge-holder, VIP, and guest list tickets for each day of the festival

• Manage show-flow for red carpet and high-attendance events.

• Closely monitor daily ticket sales and be alert for sold-out and high-attendance screenings.

• Reconcile the box office sales and attendance figures every day of the festival.

• Distribute audience surveys during the festival.

• Work with the Publisher, photographers, special guests and Theater Managers to coordinate photographed events at the theater.


-        Must have managerial experience.

-        Must have experience in event coordination.

-        Must have experience in cash handling and reconciling box office statements.

-        Strong ability to provide excellent customer relations in a fast-paced environment.

-        Able to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure.

-        Very strong organizational skills and highly detail-oriented.

-        Ability to provide positive and creative leadership to a team of volunteers.

-        Must be reliable and self-motivated, have a positive attitude and be a good team member.

-        Must be available full time from April 15 to 21, including evenings and weekend days.

-        Knowledge of basic film festival protocol a plus.

-        Spoken Spanish is a plus.

Term of Employment: April 1 through May 7. Must be available full-time the week of April 15-21, 2013.

Compensation: TBD upon experience

This is a seasonal, part time paid position.
