Benjamin and Waldemar, father and son, are the fabulous clown duo, Pangaré and Puro Sangue. They make their living traveling the country with a circus. They do not have a fixed address. Benjamin grows tired of the road and begins to feel he is no longer funny. Once he feels like he has lost his talent, he goes on a journey of self-discovery to claim a life he has so long dreamed of--to settle down, get a social security number, and an identity. O Palhaço, featuring the talented Brazilian actor and director Selton Mello, won Best Director at the São Paulo Association of Art Critics Awards.

Selton Mello was born in Passos, Brazil in 1972. He has become one of the most talented actors in Brazil, and has sustained a 30-year career. His first feature, December was awarded in several international film festivals. O Palhaço, his second feature film as director, became a box office hit in Brazil and has sold more than 1.5 million tickets.
