Ane, a blind girl on the verge of puberty, discovers photography and her first love at the hands of her uncle Antonio, a mysterious photographer who returns after a long time to the family home, where they spend the summer. Overprotected by her parents, who want to try another operation to restore her vision, and isolated by other teenagers, Ane spends her time capturing with her camera things that nobody wants to see, and which will shed new light on familial dynamics. Finally, disappointed by the adults in her life, Ane has to finds her own way to navigate the world as a teenager and as a blind person. Camera obscura premiered at the Valladolid International Film Festival.

Maru Solores

Maru Solores (Donosti, 1968) studied at the School of Cinema and Video of Andoain, Gipuzkoa. Also, she took part in film workshops given by the scriptwriter Michel Gaztambide and the director Jose Luis Guerín. Then, she moved to Berlin and studied Film Direction at the Deutsche Film-und Fernsehakademie Berlin. She directed many short films in 16mm, 35mm and documentaries. Her short film in 35mm, Dortoka Uhartea, won many international awards. After 10 years in Berlin, she returned to the Basque Country. She has worked in television (as a producer, TV director and editor), in film editing, and teaching.

When 12 year old Fonsi and his family woke up one morning, they did not know that, on that day, their lives would be altered forever. In a matter of hours, as this film unfolds, Fonsi's mother Lupe tries to protect him, but she is dating a violent drug dealer. The drug dealer is willing to put Fonsi and his mother in danger for his latest score. Fonsi's "hippie" father, Giaco, whom he has not seen since he was a toddler, comes back into the picture at the precise moment that threatens to both save and ruin Fonsi's life. Due to a series of unexpected events, each character changes drastically, facing a difficult reality. Cápsulas participated in the prestigious Co-Production Encounter of the Guadalajara International Film Festival in 2009.

Veronica Riedel

Verónica Riedel is an award-winning filmmaker and visual artist who completed her filmmaking degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. Three years ago, she was executive producer of the film, Gasolina, which screened at Cine Las Americas in 2009. This film marked a major step in the Guatemalan industry, opening the door for many filmmakers. A year later she wrote, directed and produced her first feature narrative, Cápsulas. She is the first and only woman director of feature films in Guatemala.

Rosendo Ruiz

Rosendo Ruiz was born in San Juan, Argentina, in 1967. He studied at the Film and TV School of Córdoba National University. In 1999, he formed the theatre company El Carro. His first short film, Una manga de negros was made in 2005. De caravana is his first feature film.

At the time of slavery, every day was a "day of black" in Brazil. But somewhere in the past, one of the slaves became the first free Brazilian black man. This is the backdrop to the saga of a young worker today in the eternal quest for freedom. The black man is now the driver of a wealthy family, involved with the daughter of his boss in the theft of a sacred relic. Pursued by the girl's boyfriend, he spends a crazy night in a mall, facing a series of bizarre characters. After a journey of life and death, our hero learns that there are days when the night sucks, and some stories do not end ever. Dia de Preto has played at various film festivals around the world, including recently at the Chicago Latino Film Festival; this film also features an outstanding soundtrack which was honored with Best Score by the Sunset International Film Festival, LA.

Marcial Renato, Marcos Felipe Delfino e Daniel Mattos

Marcos Felipe has a degree in Radio and TV from UFRJ and post graduate degrees in Screenwriting from UESA and Audiovisual Regulation from UFRJ. Since 2006, he's worked as a regulator for ANCINE in Brazil.

Daniel Mattos also graduated from UFRJ and holds MA and PhD degrees in Communication from the same institution.

Marcial Renato is a graduate in Communication with an MA in Literature from UFRJ. Marcial was a producer for TV Globo and currently acts as a regulator for ANCINE. Dia de Preto is the first feature written, produced and directed by these collaborators.

Kyzza Terrazas

Kyzza Terrazas was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1977. He studied Philosophy as an undergrad at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he graduated after completing a thesis on Melancholy and Philosophy. He is currently working for Mexico's Cineteca Nacional creating a film archive of orphan, amateur and home movies. El lenguaje de los machetes is his first feature film as a writer/director.

Darlene Naponse

Darlene Naponse is an Ojibway woman from Atikameksheng Anishnawbek - Northern Ontario, Canada. She is a writer, director, video artist and poet. Her short films and feature films have screened in various film festivals around the world including the Sundance Film Festival in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Her art-based video work has been installed in various galleries and programs nationally and internationally.

Director Stefano Pasetto was born in Rome in 1970. After obtaining his Arts degree with a thesis on Krzysztof Kieslowski, he studied at the National Film School of Rome from 1996 to 1999. Pasetto has directed several shorts that have been screened and awarded at important international film festivals such as Cannes, Oberhausen, London, Rome and Turin. He has also directed documentaries such as Waiting in the Wings, Ancient Water, and Italian Women Rebels of the 20th Century and narrative films. He has also worked as screenwriter and editor, and is a contributor to several film magazines.

Alberto Fuguet

Alberto Fuguet was born in Santiago and studied journalism at the University of Chile. He has developed a career as a novelist, film critic, and filmmaker, and in 2010 was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in fiction. He writes for the magazine Qué Pasa and is a resident professor of film and literature at Diego Portales University. He is currently writing a book of essays about North American film from the 1970s, among other projects.

In New York City, Solimar, a woman who is from Puerto Rico, works in a nail salon. She becomes obsessed with the violent sexual practices of her new neighbors, a Dominican man named Roberto and his Haitian-Dominican wife. Solimar, as a voyeur of their intimate life, one day witnesses a particularly brutal encounter. Roberto's wife disappears after that. In her absence, Solimar and Roberto develop an intense and violent sexual relationship. But the sudden appearance of an unidentified woman's dead body in the Bronx River awakens Solimar's suspicion. Solimar has fallen in love with Roberto, and what could be a threat for her has transformed into an erotic drive that she can't stop. Under My Nails recently won the Best Actress Award at the San Juan International Film Festival.

Ari Maniel Cruz

Arí Maniel Cruz was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He attended school in Rio Piedras and college in Santurce, both districts of San Juan. After his graduation from college with a BA in Communications, because there were no film schools on the island, he moved to Mexico City and studied screenwriting. From 2007 to 2011, he worked in New York City as an executive producer and TV host in V-ME, a US National Television Network in Spanish. He is currently working on his next two films, La Tierra Prometida and Carmín.
