A fairy tale about youth and courage, A Alegria tells the story of 16-year-old Luiza, a girl who is tired of hearing about the end of the world. During the Christmas holidays, her cousin João is shot in a poor neighborhood of the city and disappears into the middle of the night. Some weeks after, while Luiza is alone in her apartment, she finds a mysterious guest waiting for her in the living room: João, as a ghost, asking her to help hide him.

Laura and Adriana, two sisters who live together, decide to take one final trip together. Laura, who works at a pizzeria and also takes care of her sister, is in charge of getting the money together for the trip. The girls are not driven by a desire to travel, but rather to escape the reality Laura must ultimately return to. When Laura meets a musician, Martin, with whom she begins an intimate relationship, both sisters must confront each other, as well as their love, hatred, understanding and anger in their intense, sisterly bond.

Two teenage boys who have grown up like brothers go about their lives in the comfortable claustrophobia of an isolated Alaskan town. Early one morning, on a seal hunt with another teenager, an argument between the three boys quickly escalates into a tragic accident. They stumble through guilt fueled days, avoiding the suspicions of their community as they weave a web of deceit. In a European airport, members of the EU pass through immigration freely, while the "others" wait in line. A group of Ecuadorians is specifically targeted, arrested and put into a holding cell before being deported. All of them have something to hide, including Prometeo, a young Ecuadorian with some special luggage. As time passes in the waiting room, more and more Ecuadorians arrive, and conditions soon deteriorate to inhumane levels. With no exit, a new order and illusion are created, thanks in part to Prometeo.

After the death of their grandfather, Jairo, a roaming photographer, and Marina, his young, amnesiac and mute cousin, decide to try to recover the land from which Marina was displaced years ago. During the trip along the coast towards Bogotá, the story of her traumatic past begins to unfold. Upon reaching their hometown, they are kidnapped by paramilitaries, and while attempting to flee, Jairo is wounded. Marina is then faced with potentially losing Jairo along with her family's land forever, while also confronting the painful memories of her past.
